Political Instability in Pakistan – 2025: A Public Perspective

Political stability is a cornerstone of national progress, ensuring law and order, economic growth, and social harmony. However, Pakistan continues to face challenges in governance, leadership transitions, and institutional influence. A survey conducted with 12,000 participants provides valuable insights into public perceptions regarding the current government’s performance, law and order situation, role of the establishment, election fairness, and political victimization.

Public Perception of the Government’s Performance

One of the key indicators of governance effectiveness is public satisfaction with leadership. The
survey results indicate widespread dissatisfaction:

  • 50% of respondents rated the government's handling of political affairs as very poor, while another 33% rated it as poor
  • Only 17% gave a positive rating, with 7% considering it excellent and 10% rating it as good.

Law and Order Situation

Maintaining law and order is a primary responsibility of any government. Survey participants overwhelmingly expressed concern:

  • 78% believe the government has completely failed to maintain law and order.
  • 12% acknowledge efforts but feel they are insufficient.
  • 10% remain uncertain.

The Role of the Establishment in Political Instability

Pakistan’s establishment, including the military and judiciary, plays a crucial role in governance. The survey highlights diverse views:

  • 65% believe the establishment negatively influences politics.
  • 20% perceive it as neutral.
  • 15% see it as helping maintain order
